As mentioned in a previous article the number of low-cost Mini PC's and TV boxes is growing every day - and that huge competition for the lowest price is forcing the more established brands to launch devices in the premium side.

Give Himedia's record with HiSilicon chipsets, I would have expected the newest device to feature the recently announced Hi3796M V200, the first one to introduce the next gimmick - VR on TV (yeah, 4K is no longer enough to attract attention, every device now has "4K" stamped on it.)

But instead, the Himedia H1000 mini PC is still using the Hi3798C V200 SoC, same as the Q10 Pro we reviewed last year - and not to be confused with Hi3798M V200, cheaper SoC that's being used in the new Himedia Q30.
As a side note, if you find HiSilicon's naming strategy a bit confusing, you're not alone .It's like they are doing this on purpose!

Design-wise, the H1000 easily reminds me of an high-end BluRay player, and I think that's the idea.
We already know that the Hi3798C V200 SoC is quite capable of greatness (4K, 10bit, HDR, 7.1 sound and so on) and the device comes with great connection options, which allow it to connect to a wide range of old and new devices : amplifier, speakers, vintage or smart TV, all kinds of storage media, blueetooth-enabled mice, keyboards, speakers.
Basically the H1000 can be connected to pretty much any device on your existing or future home entertainment infrastructure.
