People love Intel NUC Mini PC's because they are easy to work with and the performance is good enough for a variety of use-cases, from a simple Kodi box to web-servers or anything else for that matter.

And you can also use the OS of your choice, from Linux distributions to Windows 10, ChromeOS, whatever does the job.

But the downside is the price and the fact that you'd have to build your own device, transforming yourself the barebone device into a functional Mini PC, and some people don't want to be bothered with this.

That's why Vorke V2 is a nice alternative : it's small, compact and versatile and you can have it delivered to you in a ready-to use form.

The Vorke V2 Mini PC line comes with 4 different versions.
What they have in common is :

  • CPU: 6th gen Intel Core I5/I7
  • GPU: IntelĀ® HD Graphics 520
  • RAM: 8GB DDR3L
  • ROM: 128/256 GB M.2 SSD
  • LAN: 10/100/1000
  • WiFi: 802.11 ac, dual band
  • USB: 2 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.1 type-C
  • Audio/Video: HDMI 1.4, Headphone/Mic Jack
  • Other: Bluetooth 4.0, Kensington lock, internal 2.5'' HDD tray
  • OS: Ubuntu 16.4

So they all have decent processing power, strong network connectivity (both wired and wireless), fast storage options and the added benefit of an USB 3.1 type-C port, which can be used for a variety of things:

  • - to charge a newer-generation phone (most phones launched recently have this port)
  • - fast data transfer - up to 5 Gbps
  • - to connect an additional monitor - using this port one might get actually better resolutions than with the built-in HDMI port

The provided 128GB/256GB M.2 SSD storage can be supplimented with a 2.5'' internal HDD and the small Mini PC (39 x 129 x 124 mm) can run a variety of operating systems.
The device comes with Ubuntu 16.4 preinstalled (most likely because the configuration is too good to qualify for a free Windows 10 license), but nevertheless Windows 10 can be installed, and so are other Linux flavors or ChromeOS. Or Android, if that's your thing.
