Two weeks ago we announced (on Twitter - follow us, btw!) that Zidoo will launch their own Amlogic S905 Mini PC.

Details finally surfaced today: Zidoo X5 will be launched soon and, as with the other Zidoo devices, we expect Zidoo X5 to be one of the best in terms of hardware but especially in terms of software (firmware) support.

If you read our other articles about Zidoo you already know that they built a reputation for themselves for just that: after-sale firmware support, something that other Chinese manufacturers tend to "forget".

There are plenty of S905 devices by now and after looking at the specs for most of them two patterns emerge:
- there's a cheaper version, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage, priced at around $50, and
- a more expensive version with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB ROM, Gigabit Ethernet
Zidoo chose the first version for their Zidoo X5 Mini PC, which means it will be one of the better priced Amlogic S905 Mini PC's.

Zidoo X5 comes with 1GB DDR3 RAM and 8GB eMMC ROM, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n wi-fi and 10/100M Ethernet. Comes with 2 USB 2.0 ports, SD card reader and AV and S/PDIF outputs.

Pricing is unknown yet, but the product will be available soon on Amazon.

And if you are for the first time here, once again, follow us on Twitter, we'll keep you informed with anything Mini PC-related.
